NURSING QUALITY INDICATOR MANUAL
Nursing Quality Team has developed the Quality Indicator manual containing six (6) variables that affect patient care. These variables have been defined and are being monitored monthly by assigned staff nurse and reported to Quality Management Department quarterly. These include:
- Medication Errors
- Pressure Ulcer
- Customers Complaints, Comments & Suggestions
- Staff Satisfaction (Yearly)
- Patient Satisfaction (Yearly)
NURSING POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
To standardize the essential care policies and nursing procedures, the Nursing Interim Policy and Nursing Procedure Review Committee had updated a total of 40 procedures with an addition of 6 new nursing procedures and 3 nursing policies approved and implemented in 2004.
ISO 9001 - 2000
Nursing Department has been recertified by BVQI along with other departments in the hospital.
In 2007, together with other departments, Nursing department was certified by Australian Council on Health Care Standards.
New documentation has been developed that consolidated some nursing forms into a simple one. Using inputs from nursing staff from various units, duplications have been eliminated and forms were simplified thereby reducing their time for documentation.
STUDENT NURSES AFFILIATION
BDFRMS has become an affiliating agency for student nurses from the College of Health & Sciences (government agency) and very recently for the nursing students of Royal Colleges of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and Medical University of Bahrain (private institution).
Several BDFRMS senior staff has been appointed as external examinees under Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) & Medical University of Bahrain.
